About This Website
What This Site Is
This website is a community “home base” of sorts - a place for the Steller community to go to find information about the school, upcoming events, and committee meetings. It’s a repository and archive for information about things that have happened. It’s the place to go when you can’t remember when the next Advisory Board meeting is or what day the dance is this month. It’s a place to find that form you accidentally threw away that has to be turned in tomorrow. It’s a community resource - and a work in progress.
What This Site Is Not
This site isn’t a community blog, or a forum, or a place to complain about things. It’s not a newsletter. It’s not a replacement for the official Steller site (at least, not yet.) It’s not run by School District officials, or school administrators, or sweatshop workers.
So How Did This Get Here, Anyway?
This site has been a volunteer effort by a handful of Steller parents and one senior who was able to figure out which buttons to push on the computer to make the lights come on.
How do I make a site like this?
We used a service called Dreamhost to register our name (stellerschool712.org) and rent server space. The website is run with an open-source blogging platform called Wordpress, which you can find out about at wordpress.org.
