Lunch Donations Requested

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

We have had many donations for lunch items throughout the year. Thank you to
all who have donated; however, our recent spat of cold, snowy weather
increased the number of students needing lunch. As a result, we still need
some items for students who forget or don’t have lunch. Suggested donations
include: Mac & Cheese (lunch size), granola bars, juice boxes, and plastic
spoons and forks. If you have specific questions please contact the school
nurse.

Auction Date Change

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

The auction has been moved to Friday, March 28th. This will allow more time
for planning and gathering donations. We still needed donations (artwork, gift certificates, services, airline tickets, etc.) We also need parents and students to help gather those donations and help with the auction.
Thanks so much.

Coalition of Essential Schools Conference

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Bob and Jack will be the teacher representatives from Steller attending the Fall Forum, the Coalition of Essential Schools annual Conference, November 8-10th. Steller is looking for a parent and student to attend the conference with them. If you are interested in knowing more about the conference, please go to
http://www.essentialschools.org/pub/ces_docs/fforum/fforum.html
Interested students and parents should submit a brief paper which answers the following questions:
Why would you like to attend the conference?
What would you hope to learn at the conference?
How would you share what you have learned with the greater Steller community?
These can be turned in to Karin in the Steller front office by October 5th. Please take an interest in this opportunity and apply. We are particularly looking for students and parents that would like to explore the possibilities of alternative education but do not have prior experience or knowledge in this area. There is no cost to the participating parent and student other than spending money. Airfare, hotel and food expenses will be covered by the Steller Alternative Education account. Fundraisers such as Steller t-shirt and sweatshirt sales have funded this opportunity.

GIVE STELLER YOUR EXTRA AIRMILES! If you have airfare miles that you could donate to those traveling to the Coalition of Essential Schools Fall Forum, please contact Jack Davis this week.

Requested Items

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Lunch/snack/drink donations for students who forget/don’t have lunch.
Items that do not require refrigeration or freezing and with a good shelf life work best.
Suggestions: soup cups, granola bars, cheese and cracker snack packs, tuna and cracker snack packs, juice boxes, plastic spoons etc.

Hand sanitizers for each classroom.
Thirty (12 oz.) bottles, one bottle is needed for each classroom. Most classrooms do not have sinks for handwashing. Sanitizers can greatly reduce the transmission of cold/flu this season when used by students after blowing their nose or coughing in class.
If you have any questions please contact Nurse Wendy.
