Jobs For Teens - Youth Employment In Parks
Friday, March 21st, 2008After a successful pilot summer in 2007, the Youth Employment in Parks(YEP) program is currently gearing up for its 2008 summer season! The YEP program is a program of the Anchorage Parks; Recreation Department http://www.muni.org/parks and Alaska Youth for Environmental Action http://www.ayea.org, a program of the National Wildlife Federation. The goal of the YEP program is to positively engage a new generation of diverse youth leaders with the environment and the Anchorage community through meaningful training, employment, and outdoor recreation.
This summer the YEP program will expand to provide fifty teens and young adults a great job and education experience and help them develop important leadership skills. During the program youth will have awesome outdoor leadership experiences through fun recreation and meaningful service projects. YEP will empower teens to contribute to the health of our community and stay involved with decisions that affect our quality of life. Participants will have the option of either working on park improvement projects or helping lead recreation activities. Recruitment is currently underway for the 2008 YEP Crew.
