Gifted Mentorship Program News
The Gifted Mentorship Program ran another successful summer school program this year. Steller students, Cooper Galvin and Sam Holley-Kline, completed summer school mentorships with distinction. Cooper Galvin learned about the Operating Room at Providence Hospital with his mentor, Barbara Welte, RN. Sam Holley-Kline studied the law with former Steller parent and mentor, Rich Curtner, who is a Federal Public Defender.
The mentorship is modeled after a college style internship; a gifted and talented junior or senior is paired with a professional in his/her area of career interest. This provides the student with “real world” experience and application of their talents and skills, enabling them to make informed career and college decisions.
If you have questions about the gifted mentorship program, please contact Steller’s mentorship coordinator, Lisa Wiley at Wiley_Lisa@asdk12.org. Ms. Wiley is at Steller on Fridays during lunch in the library, if you’d like to visit.
