Letter from the Editors
Dear New Steller Student,
This is a truly unique book. Designed by students for students, the Steller Handbook was made to help YOU in your quest to understand what Steller IS all about. Obviously, you know a little something about our school, or you probably wouldn’t have applied here. If you don’t know the difference between Steller and a steller view, don’t worry! You’re not alone. Here’s what some students thought Steller was about when they first came:
I thought Steller was about…
Freedom, but I didn’t take into my mind the responsible part of that freedom.
Meghan, 12th
Tall scary people with bad hair… and loud music.
Analise, 11th
Being surrounded by lots and lots of hippies.
Andrew, 7th
The philosophy sums up what Steller is about in just one sentence:
Steller is a school devoted to an educational setting which fosters the creation of independent, courageous people capable of dealing with the shifting complexities of the modern world.
Well, that’s a long phrase, but no other piece of writing so eloquently illustrates what awaits you. This phrase may answer some question, but it probably brings some up as well. Who started this school? How can I be a good Steller student? What am I doing here? What’s an independent, courageous young person? Am I one? Is this place me?
Hopefully, this book will help you find the answers. So read on, learn, and ask questions! Everyone in the community is willing to help you. Good luck!
