Who’s who in the Steller Community?

The Nurse

The Nurse does what his or her name implies - nurse students. The nurse give out Band-Aids, can administer shots, keeps track of vaccination records, and does other medical work. The nurse can also help with health-related projects and can teach some classes. The nurse is one of the few staff peple who can keep things confidential. All teachers are required to report anything to the administration that they hear from a student that may be harmful, but the nurse has the choice to keep it confidential. However, anything related to harssment or abuse must be reported. Usually, though, what you say to the nurse stays with the nurse. The School Psychologist

The school psychologist comes to Steller on certain days to listen to concerns that Steller students have. She can keep things confidential, just like the nurse. Just like the nurse. she has to report sexual harassment or abuse.

The Building Plant Operator

The Building Plant Operator, also know as the Janitor, does all the general maintenance around the school, reports damage to the administration, converses with students, acts as security occasionally, and keeps the school clean and in good working order.

The Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant answers phones, deals with registration, gives out requested transcripts, fixes the copy machine and does various other office jobs. He or she is also the person who communicates directly with the principal on many issues. There is usually an assistant Administrative Assistant as well, who helps with the massive amount of work.

The Principal

The principal is Steller’s main representative to the school district. He or she participates in Steller government, is present in the building during almost all Steller events, deals with probation and withdrawal processes, officially hires and fires teachers, does teacher evaluations, and reports incidents to the school district. The principal also helps with registration, writes part of the newsletter, does scheduling, the budget, writes ASD reports, and oversees nearly every piece of publication by the school.

The Technical Advisor

The technical advisor oversees the operation of computers, makes sure slide shows work at certain events, is involved in the purchasing of technology, offers technology classes, and works with students when computer problems are encountered.
