Yearbook is hosting an awesome new design contest, where your artwork can be used as the cover of next year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s yearbook. If you are a Steller student with a talent for art, take part in this great opportunity. Voting will be done by the yearbook staff, and if your cover is chosen you will receive a FREE yearbook, complete with your winning cover art.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If you are serious about creating original artwork for all of the Steller community to see, please contact Svetlana about further details.<\/p>\n<p>Junior class meeting Tuesday, Sept 11, at 12 in Ken&#8217;s!<\/p>\n<p>Airport Heights Elementary is looking for Steller student\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s to help tutor their gifted 6<sup>th<\/sup> grade math student\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in Pre-Algebra.\u00c2\u00a0 They are looking for volunteers during our 7<sup>th<\/sup> hour.\u00c2\u00a0 Excellent volunteer opportunity, see Jen if you are interested.<\/p>\n<p>Sailing students: Remember we are meeting on Wednesday at noon in Leigh Anne&#8217;s room.<\/p>\n<p>Wishing to volunteer more, but just don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have the time?\u00c2\u00a0 Do you also like to be active and try new things?\u00c2\u00a0 Then Jen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s California Service Intensive might just be for you.\u00c2\u00a0 During this May intensive you will do activities like Kayaking and backpacking, while also volunteering in national parks and marine wildlife centers.\u00c2\u00a0 At the end of the intensive you will have accumulated aver 20 hours of community service!\u00c2\u00a0 Find out more at the meeting in Jen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s room this Wednesday at noon.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone already signed up for Jen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s California Service Intensive also needs to attend this Wednesday\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Students who are 11 &#8211; 13 years old are invited to design a poster for a Lions Club &#8220;Imagine Peace&#8221; poster contest. Two winners will be chosen from Steller student submissions to win $100 and $50 bonds. The fist place winner&#8217;s design will go on to state, and possibly national and international levels of competition.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0This is a great opportunity for middle school students to use their original ideas to make art with a lasting impact.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0All interested students can find out more by coming to a lunch meeting in Chris&#8217;s Room on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Each year the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education seeks out students from around the state to include in the statewide middle school newspaper, <a href=\"http:\/\/akadvantage.alaska.gov\/Portals\/0\/Content\/2012_Spring_Newspaper_Final.pdf\"><strong>What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Your Story?<\/strong><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 This paper includes<strong> photos and<\/strong> <strong>career dreams of middle school students from all around Alaska<\/strong>. Students need only <a href=\"https:\/\/akadvantage.alaska.gov\/Portals\/0\/Content\/WYS%20Middle%20School%20Packet%202012.pdf\">fill out a quick form<\/a> identifying their career goals and basic contact and school information! Then parents need to sign for approval and they can send in a cool, non-professional photo of themselves.\u00c2\u00a0 For more information talk to your advisor or Dale.<\/p>\n<p>I (Dale) appreciate all the feedback from students on solutions to stop drug use in school. \u00c2\u00a0The next step is to take action. \u00c2\u00a0Wednesday at lunch, there will be a meeting in the MPR to discuss what you, as a student body, are willing to do. \u00c2\u00a0I look forward to seeing you there.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming First Dance of the School Year Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, 7:00 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 11:00 pm, Dance Theme will be Marilyn Monroe and Elvis. \u00c2\u00a0Sign up book will be available for students to sign up guests starting tomorrow, Tuesday Sept. 11th. \u00c2\u00a0Proceeds will go to the Junior Class.<\/p>\n<p>Gym Hockey sign up in the hall on the poster near JB&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00c2\u00a0number of students presented interest in painting a mural.<\/p>\n<p>If you are still interested, go ahead and turn in a proposal&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Mural Proposal for Lee&#8217;s Classroom<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00c2\u00a0 Take a picture of the part of the room on which you want to paint the mural.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00c2\u00a0 Print out three times in black and white.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00c2\u00a0 Make three different versions of the mural in color or black and white if doing black and white.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00c2\u00a0 Staple together all three images.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00c2\u00a0 Write your name on the first page.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heads up, artists of Steller!
