Each year a team of 9 teenage girls and 3 instructors spend 11 days exploring and learning about mountain glaciers and alpine landscapes through scientific field studies with professional glaciologists and mountaineers.<br \/>\nApplications are now available for the Girls on Ice 2013 Expeditions! Applications are due <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>February 1, 2013<\/strong><\/span><strong>.\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>You can apply online at <a href=\"http:\/\/girlsonice.org\/apply\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/girlsonice.org\/apply<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please note, this program is only open to teenage girls. This year we are offering 2 expeditions!\u00c2\u00a0Open to all girls age 15-18 (yes, international girls can apply!)<\/p>\n<p>Girls on Ice NORTH CASCADES is the original expedition in Washington State.\u00c2\u00a0 Washington\u00c2\u00a0Expedition dates:\u00c2\u00a0July 21 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c August 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Girls on Ice ALASKA<\/strong> is geared toward Alaskan and Pacific Northwest girls.\u00c2\u00a0Alaska Expedition dates: June 21 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c July 2, 2013<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><em>***Girls on Ice is not a reward for past good grades or academic achievement,\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><em>\u00c2\u00a0it is an inspiration for future academic success and leadership.***<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>We are able to provide this program TUITION FREE to the girls through small grants, gifts from individuals, and generous support from the National Science Foundation, the Alaska Climate Science Center, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please visit:\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/girlsonice.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/girlsonice.org<\/a>.<br \/>\nQuestions?
