{"id":11469,"date":"2013-09-09T19:54:59","date_gmt":"2013-09-10T03:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/main\/?p=11469"},"modified":"2013-09-09T19:54:59","modified_gmt":"2013-09-10T03:54:59","slug":"ag-announcements-91013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/main\/ag-announcements-91013\/","title":{"rendered":"AG Announcements \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 9\/10\/13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northstar Elementary would like more student volunteers for the\u00c2\u00a0<b>Steller &#8211; Northstar Community Service<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>The teachers at Northstar value your help so much and there are more slots to fill\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6especially after school (your 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00c2\u00a0period).\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/b>This is a great opportunity to play an important role with their kids and in their classrooms, get Community Service credit on your transcript, and have volunteer hours for applications (maybe an amazing Letter of Reference).\u00c2\u00a0 If you have any questions or would like to sign up stop by and see <strong>John<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><b>Mandatory 9th grade class meeting<\/b> at <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">noon on Tuesday<\/span> in <strong>Ashley&#8217;s<\/strong> room. \u00c2\u00a0We are hosting the <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">September dance<\/span> <\/strong>and we need to get organized!<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<b>8<sup>th<\/sup> Grade class meeting <\/b><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tuesday at lunch<\/span> in Marla\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s room.\u00c2\u00a0 We are electing class officers.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a <b>Belize meeting in Danelle&#8217;s room<\/b> on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 12 pm<\/span>. \u00c2\u00a0All students who are signed up for the Belize intensive must attend.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a brief <b>Garden Club meeting<\/b> on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Wednesday at noon<\/span> in <strong>Danielle&#8217;s<\/strong> room.<\/p>\n<p><b>Nurse Anne <\/b>wants to remind you of several upcoming events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First\u00c2\u00a0is the flu clinic for students next <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Monday, September 16th<\/span>. \u00c2\u00a0The\u00c2\u00a0parents of about half of you signed a consent form to receive the flu mist\u00c2\u00a0vaccination at school. For those who cannot take the nasal mist, the\u00c2\u00a0injection will be given. Nurse Anne will start giving the vaccinations at\u00c2\u00a08 am Monday morning and continue to give as many as she can in the\u00c2\u00a0morning, preferably during gym and study periods. The reminder she hopes\u00c2\u00a0to finish after advisory announcements. See her during advisory if you did\u00c2\u00a0not received the vaccination earlier that morning or in did not receive it\u00c2\u00a0in your health care provider&#8217;s office earlier this school year.<\/li>\n<li>Second&#8211;on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">September 23rd<\/span>, adolescent educators will be here to talk about drugs and specifically what happens to cause addiction. These peer presenters\u00c2\u00a0have not had time to prepare a specific presentation on marijuana but will\u00c2\u00a0be back later to address that subject. \u00c2\u00a0This group made an impact on\u00c2\u00a0the Sophomores last year, so have been invited back.\u00c2\u00a0 If you are\u00c2\u00a0inclined at all to hear what they have to say and to ask questions of the\u00c2\u00a0presenters who are about your age, then be in the MPR September 23rd, in\u00c2\u00a0the morning, to hear their presentation. The exact time is yet to be\u00c2\u00a0determined.<\/li>\n<li>Third,\u00c2\u00a0in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">November<\/span>, we will have a blood drive at Steller. If you are 16 or older you can donate with a signed parental consent. There will be more about\u00c2\u00a0that later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heads up, artists of Steller! Yearbook is hosting an awesome new design contest, where your artwork can be used as the <b>cover of this school year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s yearbook.<\/b> If you are a Steller student with a talent for art, take part in this great opportunity. Voting will be done by the yearbook staff, and if your cover is chosen you will receive a FREE copy of next year&#8217;s finished yearbook, complete with your winning cover art.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If you are serious about creating original artwork for all of the Steller community to see, please contact <strong>Svetlana<\/strong> about further details.<\/p>\n<p>Students interested in the <b>Nicaragua Intensive trip in May<\/b> will be meeting this Wednesday at noon in Ken&#8217;s room. He will have updated information on the costs as well as the travel itinerary for the trip. This is an incredible opportunity to practice your Spanish and be immersed in a culture where your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Credit will be available for community service with other possibilities as well. Don&#8217;t miss out on your opportunity to be the change!<\/p>\n<p>Students who need Art supplies for regular class projects (other than Art projects) <b>must<\/b> <b>get them from other sources<\/b> besides the Art Room.
