Ride your bike to Denali\u00c2\u00a0National\u00c2\u00a0Park -\u00c2\u00a0Get ready for the biking trip of a lifetime!\u00c2\u00a0 <\/i>What is the best way to start the school year? Being able to brag to all of your friends that you biked all the way to Denali National Park on your fall intensive. Join Jen and Mike in this intensive as we bike from Wasilla to Riley Campground in Denali. We will spend a day taking a shuttle into Denali to see amazing views of the mountain as well as seeing all the wildlife. Then enjoy a relaxing train ride back to Anchorage. \u00c2\u00a0If this bike ride\u00c2\u00a0seems daunting, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t worry, we will spend the first week preparing ourselves for the trip by biking around Anchorage and learning about bike safety and maintenance.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Plus you will have all summer to prepare for this intensive!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If you get out and bike a few times a week all summer (building up to riding 20 miles at a time or 2 hours) you will be ready for this trip.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Questions about this intensive?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Come talk to Jen! \u00c2\u00a0We will have an informational meeting early next semester.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
Monkeys, toucans, and sloths, oh my!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/i>Students have the opportunity to join Danielle and Ashley on a 10-day trip to Costa Rica during next year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s March intensive.\u00c2\u00a0We will explore lush tropical rainforests, geologic wonders like volcanoes and waterfalls, and the stunning Pacific coast. Highlights of the trip include visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest,\u00c2\u00a0which has\u00c2\u00a0more than a hundred species of mammals, 120 reptiles and amphibians and 2,500 different plants; taking a guided night hike to look for nocturnal animals; rafting through the rainforest and ziplining through the forest canopy; and visiting\u00c2\u00a0Mt. Arenal, one of the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most active volcanoes, and swimming in the hot springs at its base.\u00c2\u00a0Students do not have to be in Spanish to take this intensive, although there will be opportunities for Spanish students to practice their language skills. The cost of the trip will be between $2800 and $3200, depending on how many students enroll.
