It can cause mild to severe illness. Serious outcomes of flu infection can result in hospitalization or death. Some people, such as older adults, young children, and others with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.<\/h4>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>In addition to washing your hands, covering your cough, and staying home from work or school when sick, getting your annual flu shot is the best thing you can do to protect yourself and others.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Surveillance Data<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>Flu seasons are unpredictable and can range from mild to severe.
