{"id":18694,"date":"2019-02-28T23:13:01","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T08:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/main\/?p=18694"},"modified":"2019-02-28T23:13:01","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T08:13:01","slug":"spring-intensives-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/main\/spring-intensives-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Intensives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>With spring just around the corner, it is time to get signed up for Steller&#8217;s Spring Intensives!&nbsp; Whether your interests are preparing for the future, enjoying a bit of history, creating something with your own two hands or getting out and enjoying the beauty of Alaska or JAPAN, there is something for everyone to learn and enjoy.&nbsp; Students will sign up for their top three choices this Monday, March 4, 2019, during Advisory.&nbsp; Intensive Fee Waivers will be available in the office and need to be turned in no later than Friday, March 29, 2019.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/documentcloud.adobe.com\/link\/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3Ad86bda20-003f-4e41-bd45-800195f4fe3d\">Click to view PDF of all the Spring Intensives<\/a><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Here are some frequently asked questions regarding intensives:<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Question #1: &nbsp;What is an Intensive? &nbsp;This unique class allows students the opportunity to engage deeply within a specific subject area and complete a quarter credit elective class in just two weeks.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Question #2: &nbsp;Is this a mandatory class? &nbsp;The answer is, this is a part of the Steller Secondary curriculum. &nbsp;Each school within the Anchorage School District offers 180 days as a school year. &nbsp;Intensives are included in that 180 days. &nbsp;This is also one of the key benefits of attending Steller Secondary. &nbsp;Our quarters and semesters are made shorter so that we can included this benefit for students to participate in area of study they would not normally get to participate in. &nbsp;Intensives also allow our students the opportunity to travel for credit and participate in humanitarian efforts throughout the world.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Question #3: &nbsp;When are Intensives and how does my child sign up for them? &nbsp;Intensives are held at the end of each semester. &nbsp;Students will be informed of sign up dates in their Advisory classes. &nbsp;Signups will take place online during Advisory.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Question #4: &nbsp;How and when do I pay for Intensives? &nbsp;If your child is enrolled in a class that requires payment (yes, there are Intensives that are FREE), payments will be made on Zangle\/Q ParentConnection. &nbsp;Payments are NOT currently set up. &nbsp;We will email you at a later date when Zangle\/Q is set up for Intensive payment.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Question #5: &nbsp;Are there scholarships or fee waivers available?
