{"id":5733,"date":"2010-12-14T05:25:06","date_gmt":"2010-12-14T13:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/flash\/?p=5733"},"modified":"2010-12-14T05:25:06","modified_gmt":"2010-12-14T13:25:06","slug":"alaska-performance-scholarship-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/main\/alaska-performance-scholarship-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska Performance Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/flash\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/AK-Performance-Scholarship-Logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5735\" title=\"AK Performance Scholarship Logo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/flash\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/AK-Performance-Scholarship-Logo-e1292333007871.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/flash\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/AK-Performance-Scholarship-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5734\" title=\"AK Performance Scholarship 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stellerschool712.org\/flash\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/AK-Performance-Scholarship-2-e1292333053126.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"92\" \/><\/a>Eligibility<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Alaska Performance Scholarship is available to Alaska residents who graduate from an Alaska high school (public, private, or home school), on or after January 1, 2011, and:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>complete a\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/akadvantage.alaska.gov\/Grants_and_Scholarships\/Alaska_Scholarship_Program_FAQs.aspx#curriculum\">rigorous high school curriculum<\/a><\/li>\n<li>achieve a high school GPA of at least 2.5, <a href=\"http:\/\/akadvantage.alaska.gov\/Grants_and_Scholarships\/Alaska_Scholarship_Program_FAQs.aspx#level\">or equivalent<\/a><\/li>\n<li>earn a\u00c2\u00a0minimum score on college or career readiness test<\/li>\n<li>enroll at least half time, and remain in good standing, in an approved program at a qualifying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alaska institution<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have <a href=\"http:\/\/akadvantage.alaska.gov\/Grants_and_Scholarships\/Alaska_Scholarship_Program_FAQs.aspx#costs\">qualifying unmet costs <\/a>of attendance after considering all other non-loan aid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Class of 2011<br \/>\n<\/strong>Members of the 2011 class must graduate from high school having successfully completed a curriculum that includes a minimum of five credits, combined, in math and science (with no fewer than two credits in each) to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class of 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Draft regulations by the Department of Education and Early Development establishing the curriculum requirements for the class of 2012 are open for public comment until 4 p.m. October 29, 2010. For more information and\/or to read the proposed regulations, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eed.state.ak.us\/regs\/comment.html\">www.eed.state.ak.us\/regs\/comment.html<\/a>. It is expected that regulations will be finalized in early December, 2010.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class of 2013 and 2014<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>To be considered for eligibility high school freshman and sophomores\u00c2\u00a0(classes of 2013 and 2014) should choose a pathway and prepare to complete the full requirements set in statute.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Math and Science:<\/strong> Four years of math, four years of English, four years of science, and four years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>of social studies (one of which can be substituted with foreign language, Alaska Native language,<\/p>\n<p>fine arts, or cultural heritage).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Social Sciences: <\/strong>Three years of math, four years of English, three years of science, four years of<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>social studies, and two years of the same foreign language or Alaska Native language.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for a 2011\u00c2\u00a0Alaska Performance Scholarship award, complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by June 30, 2011.\u00c2\u00a0When you list Alaska as your state of residency, information from your FAFSA is automatically submitted to ACPE -\u00c2\u00a0your state financial aid agency.<\/p>\n<p>Award recipients\u00c2\u00a0must apply for and use any other non-loan aid they receive, such as state or federal grants or other scholarships, before applying an Alaska Performance Scholarship toward their remaining costs.
