In Nina\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s room.<\/p>\n<p>Junior class meeting tomorrow in Jen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s room.<\/p>\n<p>Philip is traveling next year and will be presenting and brainstorming \u00c2\u00a0opportunities for travel tomorrow. At the meeting we will be \u00c2\u00a0looking for input on where students would like to go. Photographers are encouraged to highlight issues important to their generation, explore their place in society or celebrate people, places and animals that they value. The Alaska Model United Nations provides that opportunity and Steller has a long history of participation in this state-wide event. If you are interested in debate and learning more about international issues, please attend a meeting today (Monday) at noon in Ken&#8217;s room. You&#8217;ll get all the information about dates, fees, and activities. \u00c2\u00a0See you there.<\/p>\n<p>Gay-Straight Alliance<br \/>\nInterested in promoting good relations among all student groups? We are currently in the process of reviving the GSA and we need students&#8217; support. Jan. 19th after school at 2:30!<\/p>\n<p>WorkKeys for Seniors on January 27th.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">February Creative Commons:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Friday, February 25<sup>th<\/sup>, we will be celebrating the love of words, images, music, and dance with the second Creative Commons.\u00c2\u00a0 The\u00c2\u00a0 theme is poetry.\u00c2\u00a0 We will be hosting a poetry slam, reveling in the dedicated spoken word from the Poetry Out-Loud finalists, enjoying poetry to music, and viewing visual arts in conjunction with poems or written word.<\/p>\n<p>Anybody wishing to perform should prepare for preliminary auditions on February 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> after school.<\/p>\n<p>Visual artists and poets are encouraged to work together to create words and images, which fit together.\u00c2\u00a0 For example, a painting which interprets a poem, a poem which interprets a painting, or a poem and a painting which were designed together to express one theme.\u00c2\u00a0 (You could be both the visual artist and the poet.)\u00c2\u00a0 Artwork will be collected on February 15<sup>th<\/sup> and must have a completed entry form attached.<\/p>\n<p>Other works and performances, which do not pertain to the poetry theme will also be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>See Alayne, a Creative Commons Committee Member, or advertisements for details.<\/p>\n<p>MATHCOUNTS<\/p>\n<p>MATHCOUNTS Competition is a\u00c2\u00a0national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program with four levels of competition-school, chapter (local), state and national. Consisting of fun and creative problems that promote critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, the MATHCOUNTS competitions have written and oral rounds, as well as individual and team components. MATHCOUNTS Club opens to 7<sup>th<\/sup> and 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade and will meet twice a week at noon in Shanley\/DanLu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s room.
