Senator Murkowski is now accepting applications for her <\/span>2011 High School Summer Internship Program.<\/span><\/em><\/strong> The High School Intern Program is an opportunity for young people to learn about the United States Senate and the political process and to gain experience working in a professional office.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alaskan students who will graduate from high school this spring are eligible to apply<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0The deadline to submit an application is<\/span>March 11, 2011<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0Successful applicants will be well-rounded individuals who are able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and who are willing to work hard and have fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interns will:<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Assist the Senator and her staff in serving Alaskans;
\n<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
\n\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Assist with day-to-day clerical and administrative tasks;
\n<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
\n\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Perform research and assist in drafting legislation;
\n<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
\n\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Shadow the Senator through a full legislative day;
\n<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
\n\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Experience first-hand how the legislative process works in the United States Senate; and
\n<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
\n\u00c2\u00b7<\/span> <\/span><\/span>Have the opportunity enjoy the many educational and cultural activities that are available in the Washington D.C. area.
