Club duties will include assistance with Red Ribbon week, showing films during lunch on drug abuse prevention, and assorted other activities. The club will meet during Wednesdays at lunch time in her office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anne<\/strong> is also looking into <strong>teaching basic CPR<\/strong> and may or may not include this part of a safety club volunteer activity. <strong>Let her know if you have an interest<\/strong> in helping put together the CPR activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hospice Organization of Anchorage would like about 20 volunteers<\/strong> (or as many as we can get) to put together lantern tops for a ceremony to honor members of Hospice families. <strong>The nurse would like to work with anyone interested<\/strong> in folding and cutting these pieces of paper for the lanterns. If we have enough volunteers we could complete them from 2:05 until 3:30 or sooner. Tuesday afternoon would best for the nurse, however she is receptive to any afternoon. \u00c2\u00a0If you are interested contact the nurse. She will have snacks for all who show up. The work can be completed in the conference room (in the office area) or the MPR. She will let you know where.<\/p>\n<p>Steller is going to\u00c2\u00a0work with the \u00c2\u00a0<strong>Leukemia and Lymphoma Society<\/strong> to raise money for this worthy cause. <strong>If<\/strong> anyone is interested in helping Nurse Anne organize this activity please let her know. The campaign is in January, right after winter break, but it is not too early to start planning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please let Nurse Anne know<\/strong> if you or your friends have an <strong>interest in an adolescent &#8220;girls group&#8221;<\/strong> to discuss adolescent issues. Discussion topics can include relationships, careers, peer pressure, assertiveness training, dealing with emotions, etc. This group will meet one day a week for an hour for an undetermined number of sessions. It can be on a day convenient for most participants. The nurse is receptive to any ideas you have with this group or any of the volunteer opportunities. \u00c2\u00a0She appreciates your help and looks forward to working with you.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a <strong>mandatory 8th grade class meeting tomorrow in Danielle&#8217;s room<\/strong>. We need to finalize plans for this Friday&#8217;s dance, and we may elect class officers then.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attention Garden club members: we will be meeting in Danielle&#8217;s room today at lunch<\/strong> to discuss this Friday&#8217;s harvest and selling at the Farmer&#8217;s Market this Saturday. Any student interested may attend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students participating in the Banned Books<\/strong> Read-out at Title Wave should <strong>confirm with Danielle asap<\/strong>. There will be a <strong>meeting this Wednesday at lunch<\/strong> to practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PSAT Testing at Steller on October 15th.<\/strong> \u00c2\u00a0Students need to sign up ASAP with $20.00 in the office because there are a limited number of tests available.\u00c2\u00a0 If you signed up but didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t pay&#8230;you are not signed up \u00e2\u20ac\u201c check with John in the office now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The SAT test will be administered at Steller on Saturday October 1st.<\/strong> \u00c2\u00a0You can still late register on-line at CollegeBoard.com. \u00c2\u00a0If you have any questions see John.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone has any questions about the <strong>Alaska Performance Scholarship<\/strong>, for more information <strong>see John<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Many congratulations to our three <strong>National Merit Scholarship finalists: \u00c2\u00a0Itzhak Lax, Kaylin Saur and Anna Miller<\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0Steller actually had 3 of the 22 finalists in the district&#8230;very cool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yearbook forms are in the office<\/strong>. The price will increase second quarter. <strong>Current price is $55.00. \u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>No custom personalization allowed by the publisher post December 31st deadline. \u00c2\u00a0If students wish to have a name\/special phrase on a cover, icons, or autograph section they must purchase the book this semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Battle of the Books!<\/strong> We now have High school team formed. We are still looking for <strong>middle school students<\/strong> who would like to participate. <strong>Please sign up at the library!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>The <strong>deadline<\/strong> to <strong>sign up for the dance is tomorrow<\/strong>, Tuesday the 20th at 12:00!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quarter 1 progress reports<\/strong> are now available on Zangle<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drama will be on MWF from 2:15 to 3:30<\/strong> and will start on the 28th of September. \u00c2\u00a0Elizabeth Ware will be the drama coach.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that the <strong>supplies in the art room<\/strong> come from students who pay an art lab fee. \u00c2\u00a0There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re quite a few who come during lunch, after school, and even during class to use stuff from here.\u00c2\u00a0 Ask Lee before using <strong>any<\/strong> of the art supplies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AG Announcements \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 9\/19\/11 Nurse Anne would like anyone interested in being in the Safety Club to contact her.
