Last weekend, people of all ages were buzzing around the atrium of the Anchorage Museum, for the first annual event of the Pupil + Paper Design Show and Fundraiser.
The 19 student teams showed their finished fashion designs made entirely from paper.  The students from ASD high schools, including 3 Steller students, Lizzy H, Aisatou S., and Annie T., were challenged to design a high fashion item and were given a dressmaker’s form, a pile of used paper, and 2 months to make their dress.  The finished pieces were impressive – the attendees and the judges raved about their creativity and the artistry of paper folding.
The students competed for scholarship money; the evening included a silent auction.  The result showed the high artistic proficiency of our high school students, and it was a very successful fundraiser for the Children’s Lunchbox (part of Bean’s Café).
