Congrats Mimie!

Mimie D-K received a Superior rating for her violin solo at the ASD Middle School Solo and Small Ensemble Festival.

Mimie performed “Andante Cantabile” by Peter Tchaikovsky.

Her accompanist was Janna Preston.

The adjudicator (judge) shown talking with Mimie is Katheryn Hoffer, concertmaster of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.

Intensive Trip to the Florida Keys: December 2016

imgres-1There will be a parent meeting for students  interested in going  to the Florida Keys to study Marine Biology in December 2016. We will spend our intensive  in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary where daily activities will include snorkeling coral reefs,  daily field trips in boats, lab sessions ,  as well as visiting different marine habitats including the Everglades National Park.  The meeting will held March 8th, at 6:30 in Mikes room. The cost of the trip  is $2900.

Spring Break Bootcamp

IditaZooâ„¢ Event 2016

Meet mushers and their sled dogs by joining the Alaska Zoo to celebrate dog mushing, the Alaska state sport!  You will learn all about the history of the Iditarod® including interesting facts about Iditarod® checkpoints.  Be there Saturday, March 12th, at the Alaska Zoo from Noon to 4pm for IditaZooâ„¢!  You can “race” through zoo grounds while playing the zoo’s checkpoint game, learn some cool facts about dog mushing, view Iditarod® race standings, and get hands-on with equipment used for winter outdoor dog sports.  Kids will enjoy a craft station and a special sled dog Storytime program at 2pm.  Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the Alaska state sport and see some of the animals Iditarod® mushers may see along the trail!
