Sophomore Day

Dear Sophomore Parents,

Students who are sophomores have been given a consent form for Sophomore Day. This is an annual presentation that, again this year, is being held at the BP Energy Center. It is an all day event on April 12th. The speakers will discuss issues related to sexuality. If you have any questions about the agenda please contact me at 742-4963. I will be happy to discuss who the scheduled presenters are and what they will discuss.  Make certain that you sign the consent form and have your adolescent bring it back to me as soon as possible.  I must have all consents by Wednesday April 10th.

Additionally, if any of you could help getting the food for lunch to the BP Energy Center on this day, I would greatly appreciate it. The Parent Group has generously offered to pay for pizza, salad and drinks from Costco.  Please – I need a parent to pick the food up and get it there. Anyone who is interested, please contact me. If it would be easier for you, I  could purchase the salad, paper ware and drinks the night before and you could pick up the pizza and bring it to BP. You are welcome to stay, eat with us and listen to the presenters, as well.

Thank you for your assistance getting the signed consents back to me.

Sincerely,

Nurse Anne

Bboying/Breakdancing and the Hip Hop Culture

Credit: .25 English Elective     Grade Level: 7-12      Teacher: Lee    Class Fee: $20

Explore the roots of bboying and hip hop, its evolution into its own unique culture, and its relationship to the rest of the “humanities.” Learn and practice some of the many exciting moves and even innovate some of your own. Research, record, and reflect upon the complexities of the culture, people who helped to originate the culture, and your personal progress as you develop your own bboying skills.

Thanks for the Pi’s…I mean Pies!

Thank you so much for all the amazing pie donations – we had 30 donated pies!  Ranging from fruit pies, to pumpkin pies, to homemade pecan (including homemade whipped cream), cherry, and lemon pies. Yum! Every excited pi-reciting student (well over a 100) was able to have his or her choice of pie. In fact several students, who memorized more than the required 10, were able to walk away with two slices.  The math department is incredibly thankful for the generosity of our Steller parents and we look forward to next year’s Pi Day!
