Last All Community Meeting March 20!

The last All Community Meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, March 20th at 6:30 pm. Please join us to honor our student and parent volunteers.
A main focus will be on recognizing volunteerism in our school and continuing to encourage student engagement in service learning.
Beau Bassett, the Spirit of Community Youth Leadership Coordinator for Volunteers of America Alaska, is our guest speaker and will talk about summer opportunities for students and how parents can help engage their kids in service learning. Steller Boys do the Tour of Anchorage Ski Race

A group of Steller students got out and participated in the Tour of Anchorage cross country ski marathon last weekend. They all did the Classic 25K and stayed together for most of the way.

WE CAN! stands for Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and

Nutrition. Inlet View partners with Anchorage Center for Pediatrics and

Anchorage Lutheran Church to offer four nights of free, family fun with food and

fitness education. I could use 5 high school volunteers for each night,

preferably 11th and 12th graders.

**(See Victoria or your advisor for recommendation if not in 11th or 12 grade)

I would highly recommend it for your students

interested in nursing, medicine or physical education. It would be greatly

appreciated if the students could commit to coming all four nights. The

consistency helps build better relationships. The classes are scheduled for

Tuesday, April 23 & 30 and May 7 & 14.  We begin the evening with dinner at

5:45, the students would meet with their other team leaders from 6-6:20  and

then the groups meet from 6:30 – 8:00.  The high school volunteers would play

alongside the preschool through 6th grade students. The groups are led by ASD

volunteers and UAA students. I attached two brochures that might be helpful.

They can check out the national website by googling “we can”. I could also send

a video that introduces the event.
