Free Dental Sealant Clinic

UAA’s Dental Assisting Program offers free sealant clinic

Clinic encourages children to take care of teeth

ANCHORAGE, AK The University of Alaska Anchorage Dental Assisting Program will offer a free dental sealant clinic for children on Saturday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UAA Dental Clinic.  The clinic is open to
children between the ages of 7 and 15 years who have newly erupted permanent teeth free of decay or have been advised that dental sealants will advance the health of their teeth.

UAA¹s Dental Assisting Program prepares students to become skilled members of the dental health care team.  Assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of oral health care and are valuable members
of the dental care team.  They can work in private or group practice, and may focus their skills in general dentistry or a specialized field such as orthodontics.

No appointment is needed for the sealant clinic.  Children will be served on a first come, first served basis.  Call (907) 786-6923 for more information on the UAA Dental Clinic.  The clinic is located in the Allied Health
Sciences Building on the corner of Providence Drive and Seawolf Drive. For more information on UAA¹s Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs visit http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/ctc/alliedhealth/

Hi Folks,

Been a while since I have played in Anchorage, but I am pleased to say I will be joining a Choir Quartet from Steller Secondary School to help raise funds for the school. The event is at my favorite coffee house Side Street Espresso (412 G Street) in Anchorage (near Darwin’s Theory).  Recommended contribution is $10 per person, and we promise a great time!  Come early, parking is never easy downtown.  Start time is 6 pm sharp. Tickets are on sale at Side Street.

Hope to see you there!

Best,

* Ad Board will not meet tomorrow April 1, but instead will meet at noon with Op Group on Thursday, April 23 in Danielle’s room.

Ad Board

The Ad Board meeting for April will not be held on Wednesday evening this month. I have asked the student co chair to advise when this month we  would be able to meet during the Op Group meeting time. As of today I have received no agenda items that include proposals
requiring Ad Board action.

UAF Summer Leadership Institute

I would like remind you about the Summer Leadership Institute for high school students that we’re hosting at UAF this summer, from May 26-June 2.  We are beginning to see a small flurry of enrollments, however, the deadline is fast approaching (April 10).  Whatever you can do to help get us get the word out to your students would be greatly appreciated.

This is a dynamic, interactive, hands-on opportunity for students to learn about and practice leadership in an enjoyable environment, where they can experience (supervised) college life and earn two academic credits to get them jump-started on their post-high school education.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Attached is a brochure, application form, and reference form, and be sure to check our website (www.alaska.edu/uaf/nlc/Summer2009/summer2009.xml) for additional information and to view some great photos from last year’s institute.
