Come support a fundraiser for the students in the UK/Scotland Intensive at Barnes & Nobles on Saturday, April 4th from 10-6. A percentage of all purchases from people who mention Steller at checkout will go to our fundraiser. There will be vouchers available at the school, and there will be an event table in front of the fireplace that day where you can get a Steller sticker. We will wrap your Easter or Mother’s Day gifts, there will be face painting, and our student musicians will perform throughout the day. Please support us in any way that you can, including telling all your fiends and families about us. For more information, contact Cindy E. at 227-1620 or cjames@ak.net

Pi Day
March 14th is a very important day. No, not only because everyone is still off for spring beak, but because it is National Pi Day! Steller has celebrated Pi day for the last 2 years with great gusto. Since Pi day is during the break Steller will be celebrating “Unofficial PI Day” on Friday, March 20. We will be giving away free slices of pie to any student who can memorize pi out to 10 decimal places. We will also be giving away a free t-shirt to the student who can memorize pi out the farthest. Parents, if you could help out by donated a pie (any flavor would be great) for the event it would be much appreciated. Please bring pies to Jen on the morning of Friday the 20th. Thanks again and Happy Pi Day!
Oceanography Intensive
In May we are having an Oceanography Intensive. Our students will be staying at Steller for the first week of the intensive and then the second week will be in Cordova. During this first week the students will be engaged in activities related to Marine Science and I hope to be able to use some great activities that I have applied for using a grant (check it out at: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=255441). We also hope to begin a partnership with the Prince William Sound Science Center where we travel to Cordova every second year in August (beginning this coming August) to involve our students in a two week experience. If we are able to gain support for the grant the products obtained will help in coming years as more of our students are able to experience a uniquely Alaskan experience. Cheers Shannon
Galapagos meeting Re-Schedule!!
Interested in December 2010 Galapagos trip?
We had a meeting planned for March 5th at 6:30pm but with consideration for those leaving on Spring Break trips we are going to re-schedule the meeting to coincide with the All Community Meeting on the 19th March. The new meeting will be in Jean’s room at 6:30pm on the Thursday of 19th March.  See you there!
Health Fair
Today, 3/4/09, was the first of many Theme Day R.E.C.E.S.S. activities. It is so wonderful to see the excitement of the students as they go from one activity to another. I am hopeful that this effort will be successful for many years to come. I have attached an agenda of today’s activities.
