This year, as for the last sixteen years, the English Language Learner Program is collaborating with the Asian Alaskan Community in the presentation of its Cultural Festival of Arts.  The Asian Alaskan Community has collectively worked to present a rich celebration of their culture.  Once again they are inviting students from the Anchorage School District to enjoy the festivities.  The presentation will feature performances by local students including Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Thai, Lao and Japanese performers.

Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide annual event that allows high school students from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to showcase their artistic ability. The winning artwork from each Congressional district is displayed in an eleven month exhibit in the Cannon tunnel that leads into the U.S. Capitol. Will this year’s winner be one of your students?
