Are you looking for a way to fulfill the parent volunteer hours? The geocaching intensive is looking for parent drivers/chaperones to help us find treasures in the woods around Anchorage. Below are the dates and locations we are going to (hopefully) explore.
The plan would be to leave Steller around 9am and be picked up around 1:30pm to bring us all back to school by the 2:05pm release time. We need enough total seats for 14 students.
Please email me (Bob) at vandergriff_robert@asdk12.org if you are willing and able to help out.
Thank you ahead of time.
Wednesday May 10th: Far North Bicentennial Park/Campbell Creek Science Center

Five Steller Band students are scheduled to play for the ASAA State Solo/Ensemble Festival next Friday and Saturday at UAA. The students are Bella Libbrecht on flute, Sebastien Libbrecht on trumpet, Tatiana Rogers on trumpet, Erica Stryker on trumpet, and Kohlby Vierthaler on baritone. Bella and Sebastien both entered the District Solo/Ensemble Festival in March and received superior ratings, respectively. Erica earned the right to play for state by achieving a superior rating with a trumpet solo during the Aurora Music Festival in Valdez. In addition, Sebastien, Erica, Tatiana, and Kohlby formed a brass quartet, and they, too, earned a superior rating during the Aurora Music Festival, thus advancing to state. “What a successful year the Steller Band is having,” said Mr. Toba, the band director. “Considering the size of the school and its band, sending 5 students to state is a huge accomplishment. I am so proud of these students for their recognition.”
Bella, Erica, and Sebastien will perform their solos next Friday. The brass quartet is scheduled to play next Saturday
