Important: Our Staff Needs Your Opinions

In the spring, each new student that is accepted to Steller through the lottery system meets with the staff member who will be their advisor during their years at Steller.  This is a very important time for the student, the parents and the advisor to try to determine if Steller is a proper fit for them.  The staff has a list of questions that they would like to pare down and make the orientation process more standardized between different advisors.  Please weigh in about which questions you think would be important to ask by taking our survey:  Student Orientation Questions

Thanks for helping us make this an excellent process!

Steller has funds for bigger ideas…

If you are a member of our community, a student, staff or parent with a great concept that would benefit Steller, but costs a lot-like more than $500, then the Parent Group has created a fund to help address this need. A Grant committee has been formed, consisting of 2 parents, 2 students and 2 teachers. The fund currently has $10,000 available to spend for the remainder of this school year. This committee will be meeting on:

March 31st, at 2:15 in Danielle/Ashley’s room

Everyone is invited! Come hear the proposals and learn what will make Steller an even better place to be.

Fund request forms are in the office. The Grant Committee will vote on the proposals after the meeting on the 31st.

Any questions? Ask Jennifer in the library (a.m.) or email me at jhj@gci.net.

FUNdraiser is This Saturday and We Would Really Appreciate Your Items

Expanding your world 1 modifiedPlease remember to bring your new or gently used items to the office.

Please consider asking businesses that you frequent regularly to contribute an item or a gift certificate.

Also don’t forget to check with your student about what items they need for their advisory group basket.

We are looking forward to a fun event and invite everyone to attend.  Thanks so much!

Steller FUNdraiser Needs Item Donations

imagesWe hope that everyone is enjoying your spring break!

If you are out and about on vacation, consider picking up a nice item for the auction.

Doing spring cleaning?  Perhaps you found some nice and gently used items that would be appropriate for the auction.  (No clothing please.)

Don’t forget to ask your friends and families who are business owners to donate a gift certificate or item.

Remind your student to pick out an item for their advisory group baskets.  Basket themes are HERE.

Please help Parent Group make this a successful auction by bringing items to the office first thing next week and be sure to come to the FUNdraiser, March 21, 6pm.

See you all there!

“Unofficial” Pi Day Returns to Steller!

pi day pieThis year’s Pi Day is considered to be “Epic” as Pi Day is on 3/14/15, which are the first 5 digits of the irrational number Pi.

This day, as we know, is during spring break and since the district won’t move the entire ASD calendar for Pi Day, we at Steller will be celebrating it “unofficially” the Friday we return from break. Any student who memorizes 11 digits of pie will walk away with a free slice of pie. It is a fun way to show, with the help of a little sugar, just how awesome math can be!

Pies are needed for Steller’s “Unofficial” Pi Day – Friday, March 20th, The math department is seeking pie donations to help in celebrating Pi Day. Since PI Day (3.14) lands during spring break Steller is celebrating the day unofficially the Friday we get back. We hope to give every student who memorized 11 digits of Pi a free slice of pie. If you are able to help celebrate this day by donating a pie (any kind, homemade or not) we would appreciate it. Pies can be dropped off in the Steller kitchen on Friday morning. Thanks so much! – Jen
