Cornell University Summer College programs for high school students

What makes you special?
Summer College wants to know!

One of the reasons that Cornell Summer College is so exciting is that we choose students who have demonstrated academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and a wide range of interests and talents.

Cornell University Summer College – one of the oldest and most prestigious programs of its kind – invites talented high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to its acclaimed three- and six-week precollege programs.

Online applications will open in January, and admissions decisions for all programs will be made on a rolling basis.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

The online application for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is now available HERE. The JRF application is the vehicle through which more than 4,000 talented young minority high school students apply to become JRF Scholars and carry on the civic-minded legacy of the Foundation’s namesake, Jackie Robinson. The deadline to submit the application for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is February 1, 2018 by 5:00 pm ET.

King Career Center Informational Night Tuesday Nov 7

Dear ASD sophomores, juniors, and their parents:

On Tuesday, November 7, we are holding our first informational night about KCC’s transition to a full time school beginning in the 2018-19 school year, and you are invited!

This is a great chance to hear about and visit a school that provides excellent career and college preparation in 26 different programs.  After the presentation, you will have a better understanding of why KCC might be perfect for the last two years of high school.

Come find out how students are professionally trained, connected directly with industry, and how they gain a competitive advantage in their adventures after high school. We hope to see you here at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Thank you.

Galapagos Intensive count down has started!

For parents and students in the Galapagos Intensive, the count down is started!!  We have 6 weeks until we will be on an airplane headed for Ecuador.  I would like to host a final parent/student meeting at Steller on November 15th at 6:00pm to make sure everyone has the contact information, all paperwork filled out, a packing list and general travel guidelines.  This meeting should take about 1/2 hour to an hour depending on paperwork.  We will be meeting in Svetlana’s room (not the relo) because hopefully there will be snow by then!  If you cannot attend, please contact me at hohnstein_rosalie@asdk12.org so that I can meet with you another time and double check that you have all of the information we will be covering at the meeting.

As well, for students that are traveling, we are hold a MANDATORY meeting next Wednesday November 9th during lunch in Relo #1 to cover geography, room assignments, and other odds and ends.  Please bring your lunch and a notebook to take notes with [😊]

After School Basketball Camp – Nov  27th thru Dec 1st

Hello, my name is Cameron Snow and I’d like to invite students to an event that I am planning as part of my passage. This quarter I am hosting a week long basketball camp on November  27th through December 1st. I believe this camp is important because it can help students increase their basketball and communication skills. The camp will run from 2:30-4:00pm. 7-10th graders are able to participate, with a maximum of 20 students. The camp is FREE and each participant will receive a free T-shirt on the last day. I will hand out flyers and permission slips during the next advisory and they will be available in the office as well. The deadline for the permission slips is Friday, November 10th.  If you have any questions, please see me or email me at Snow.Cameron118@gmail.com.
