Steller Parent Group Meeting Tonight

Parent Group will be meeting early this month because of spring break. Please join us Tuesday March 3rd  6:00-7:30 in Ken’s room. This month’s agenda includes updates from students and staff,  upcoming events, request for funding support for Spring Intensives and student proposals, and opportunities to volunteer with Steller Olympics (not to be missed!). Find out how you can help support the Steller community and keep up-to-date on upcoming events and news from staff and students. Email mayokiely@msn.com if you would like to add an agenda item or are unable to attend but are interested in volunteering. All are welcome! Please see the attached agenda.

Travel to Peru in December!

 

Leigh Anne and Jason are excited to travel with students in December to Peru. Travel scholarship applications are due March 5th and can be picked up and turned into the office. More information can be found by stopping by to talk to Leigh Anne or emailing her at bonney_leigh@asdk12.org. Students who are hoping to join should make sure their passports are good through June 2021 and if not, apply for their passport now. Registration forms can be picked up from Leigh Anne.

Alaska Seeds of Change Summer Garden Program

 

 

 

 

Are you looking for other day camp options for your child(ren) this summer? The Anchorage-based nonprofit Alaska Seeds of Change is looking to hold an interactive summer gardening program to teach youth about how to start, grow, and maintain fresh and local Alaskan produce. In order to best serve you and your child(ren)’s needs, we have created a quick survey to determine how we should administer our program. If you think your child(ren) would be interested in learning more about gardening and the local food system, we invite you to take this quick 5 minute survey. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Valentines Day Dance – Feb 13

Hello Parents, 
 
The Valentines Day Dance committee needs chaperones for the Valentines dance falling on the 13th of February. The dance is from 7-11 pm. We ask that chaperones during the first shift show up at 6:50 pm. All shifts are open and we need at least four parents for each shift.
6:50 pm – 9:00 pm and 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm are the shifts. 
We currently have only one chaperone for the dance. Please sign up if you can. You can sign up by contacting Alana at (907) 229-8694.

Our Valentines “Sadie’s” dance is coming up, so make sure to buy your tickets early, and ask someone out (if you’re so inclined). Remember: The girls ask the guys out for this one! The date is Thursday, February 13th @ 7pm-11pm.

Join us for an evening of food, music and demos under the glow of our neon grow lights at Alaska Seeds of Change! Learn how we support transition age youth in Anchorage with vocational training, mental health supports, and the POWER youth drop-in center.
