Senior Breakfast, Thursday, 7:30 am

The sophomore class will host graduating Steller Seniors and their Parents at the annual Senior Breakfast, this Thursday, April 21 at 7:30.  All seniors should have received their formal invitations in the mail this last week.  While it’s usually the early bird who gets the worm, we promise no worms are on the menu, and you can still RSVP by email to stellerclass2013@gmail.com. We would also like to thank the Class of 2011 for using some of their stellar fund-raising proceeds to purchase four chafing dishes for use at this annual event.  Your donation leaves a legacy that will be much appreciated by current and future sophomores.

Principal Selection Process Update

The Steller Parent Group will be hosting a meeting for interested parents at 5:30 PM just prior to the Friday meet and greet.  The meeting will provide parents with a chance to discuss potential questions for our four candidates and how the second part of the meet and greet will go in the four breakout classrooms.  Please feel free to bring cookies to share with the community during the meet and greet.  Students will be providing coffee from Temple of the Bean for the evening.

Our four principal candidates include Dale Evern and David Legg, both currently with the ASD, Mariah Thomas-Wolf who has completed several administrative positions (including principal) in Alaska (not ASD), and Dave Morris an Alaskan with much experience in K-12 education who is currently the principal in Togiak.
For more information, please refer to prior posting on the Flash about the principal selection process.

Creative Commons

Creative Commons is planning its final celebration of the arts for Tuesday, May 3rd from 6 – 8 in the MPR. This meeting not only marks the years end, but also the final Creative Commons for this year’s senior class. In turn, seniors are encouraged to donate art and perform. So, whether you be an audience member, an artist, or a performer, please come along and enjoy the festivities!

Here is the Timeline of Activities and the final list of movies for the Activity Night.  All students must have turned in a parental permission slip to view movies (deadline was 4/5).  All movie rooms will be chaperoned and have lights on at all times.

The Activity Night is NOT a slumber party; there are no designated sleeping areas and students should plan to stay active all night!

Japan Day

Hello,

Shanley and Danlu’s advisory group is hosting Japan Day this Wednesday April 13th.  We encourage students and staff to wear red and white (the colors of the Japanese flag) or wear something with a Japanese theme.  Students and staff will also have the opportunity to make paper cranes (a Japanese symbol of good luck), and the Red Cross will also be setting up a booth with information on earthquake preparedness.

We also encourage students and staff to bring in donations which will be given to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.

Thanks,
Shanley

Activity Day

Dear Parents,

We are planning on taking the students to Lynn Ary Park on May 19th, 2011.  We will start loading the buses at 8:45 in the morning and will return to Steller by 2:00 pm.  Follow the link below for the permission slip form.  It is imperative that we have a permission slip form for every student.  If your child does not return this slip to their advisor by May 2, 2011, they will remain at school for the day.  There will be an opportunity for students to ride their bikes to Lynn Ary from Steller.  This needs to be decided in advance in order to ensure that we can account for everyone.  Students must wear a helmet in order to ride their bike.  If your student shows up without a bike or a helmet they will be put on the bus.  All students planning on attending must either ride the bus or bike from Steller with the teacher sponsor.
