NFL Keep Gym in School Grant Program

Steller Community,

Please remember to nominate our school for the NFL Keep Gym in School Grant where we can get $1,000-$50,000 to improve our P.E. Program.  Replacement of broken items, a larger weight room with better equipment, better storage, an outside track and basketball court are all a possibility, but we need everyone in the Steller Community to come forward and nominate us. Pennies For Patients Fundraiser

This year, Steller Secondary has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients program to raise money to fund research in finding cures and therapies as well as provide information and support to those with leukemia and lyphomas.

We have until 4/3/2009 to collect as much spare change and financial donations as we can for this cause.

Please help our students save lives with the power of a penny! Along with spare change, you can send checks in with your student made payable to: LLS, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Pennies for Patients. You can also make a donation online in the name of your student and Advisory Group at www.schoolandyouth.org/wa/donate NOTE: leave both name fields blank and press enter. You will then be able to search a list of schools for Steller and make your tax deductible donation. Steller students are also selling Pennies for Patient Logos at lunch (see photo below).

Want to own a beautiful hand-made quilt?

During the winter Intensive, a beautifully hand-crafted quilt was designed and created by students at Steller. This lovely quilt is on display in the front office and is now being auctioned off through a silent auction for charity.  The proceeds will go toward creating warm children’s blankets for the pediatric unit at Providence Hospital.  The highest bidder will not only walk away with a warm, beautiful quilt, but also the warm feeling of giving back to others.  All you have to do is print your name, number, and donation on the form in the office.  The highest bidder by the deadline wins the prize. The form and quilt can be located on the display case inside the office.

It will also be available for viewing prior to the Talent Show on Thursday.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity.
The auction will end February 13th.
Thanks,

Michelle

Counselor’s Corner: Spotlight on Student Volunteers

Steller Student Volunteers Shine Through the Day and Night!

Steller Secondary School students worked hard during their free time this holiday season to bring sunshine and hope into the lives of others, and had heaps of holiday fun while doing it!

Title Wave, Steller’s school business partner, continued to give Steller priority during the entire holiday season on the gift wrapping station located at the front of their flagship Northern Lights store.  Title Wave provided the wrapping paper, tape, table, and periodic public address announcements free to Steller students, chaperones and staff.  Steller volunteers provided cheerful and creative wrapping skills and a jar for gratuities to earn tips for charities, clubs and activities. Parent Paula DeLaiarro commented, “The folks at Title wave are always terrific!  I’ve been doing wrapping there for various Steller groups for a couple of years now and always enjoy my time.  The table is set up and supplied with everything we need when we arrive and the staff makes timely announcements about our group’s wrapping service.  It’s a well-run, stress-free operation.  Their willingness to welcome fund raising groups is a win-win deal for all!” Continue reading
