Meet with your student’s teachers and hear what they are doing and have planned for this year.

The Parent Group would like express our sincere thanks to all of the new and current parents, students and family members who attended the New to Steller Orientation Tuesday evening. We had a phenomenal turnout; received some great questions and hopefully provided quality information to all. Also, a big thank you all the students and parents who volunteered their time in support of this important event.

As a follow-up we wish to note some key dates and information:

• Student registration for classes Friday, August 21

12^th and 8^th graders                  8:00am – 10:00am

11^th and 7^th graders                  10:00am – 12:00p

9^th and 10^th graders                  1:00pm – 3:00pm

And while at the school for registration don’t forget to give a hand preparing the school garden for next spring’s plantings.

Our small school relies on parents to help out on a daily basis.  Every day (except for Intensives) we try to keep the library open for students to return or check out a book, do work, use the computers or eat lunch at the round tables. Please consider volunteering your time during the Steller Lunch period, from 11:40 until 12:40.  If you are able to help out, please email: hall-jones_jennifer@asdk12.org or call/text 229-O499.  I also could use some help at the beginning of the year with covering and labeling new books if you are willing to lend a hand for an hour or so. Thank you-many hands make light work!  It is going to be a great year.

Join us for fun with playing band instruments.  Steller Band is always looking for students who have at least one year of playing experience in band (i.e. 6th grade beginning band).  For 7th and 8th graders, we will expect you to play the instruments you played last year; for 9th graders through 12th graders, you will have an opportunity to try new band instruments.  No instrument?  We will work with you! Contact Mr. Toba at toba_nobuo@asdk12.org, or call 742-0171.  Steller Band DOES qualify you to enter the All-State band and state solo/ensemble festivals. Our first meet will be Tuesday (8/25) in the 2nd portable (“Svetlana’s Relo”).  We hope to see you then!
