Students of Steller, If you want to keep your open-computer-lab privilege, please respect the equipment and respect rules: no food and no games are allowed in a computer lab. Clean up and straighten up after yourself and your schoolmates.

Battle of the Books! Wonderful books were selected for this school year battle! Please sign in at the library if you want to be on Mighty Steller Battle of the Books teams: High School and Middle School. The summaries of the books and books themselves are available in the library.   Our meeting is next Tuesday (9/17) at lunch in the library.  See Svetlana for questions.

Heads up, artists of Steller! Yearbook is hosting an awesome new design contest, where your artwork can be used as the cover of this school year’s yearbook. If you are a Steller student with a talent for art, take part in this great opportunity. Voting will be done by the yearbook staff, and if your cover is chosen you will receive a FREE copy of next year’s finished yearbook, complete with your winning cover art.  If you are serious about creating original artwork for all of the Steller community to see, please contact Svetlana about further details.

Buy your Yearbook now! Please note that it is cheaper to purchase the Yearbook during this quarter. Current price is $55.00. Also, there is no custom personalization allowed by the publisher post December 31st deadline. If students wish to have a name/ special phrase on a cover, icons, or autograph section they must purchase the book this semester.

Senior pages and portraits are due December 19, 2014

There is an Ad Board meeting this Thursday at 6:00 in Ken’s room. Each advisory should send a representative.

The Alaska World Affairs Council brings up guest speakers from around the world to offer lunch time lectures to the Anchorage community. On September 26 there is a lecture on the crisis in Syria by Dr. Radwan Ziadeh, founder and director of the Damascus Center for Human Rights. If you are a high school student interested in attending the lunchtime lecture from 12-1 and can get to the Hilton on your own, please see Leigh Anne for more information. The luncheon is free to students due to a grant from BP.

PSAT Test  * Juniors (and anyone else who would like to take the test) the PSAT is coming to Steller in October. * This is a very important assessment for any student planning to go on to college or pursuing a post- high school education of any kind. * Sign up in the office with Haley; the cost is $22.00, bring as check (made out to Steller) or cash…once you pay you’ll be given the PSAT Study Guide.  * We have a limited number of tests so sign up is first come first served. * If you have any questions see John in the office.
