Steller Band Students Won the Command Performance
Xavier L on bassoon and Griffin L on French horn won the Command Performance Awards for 2021 Alaska State Solo/Ensemble Festival. Earning the honor is one of the most difficult tasks for high school musicians in state.
” I can’t find a way to express my feeling now for Xavier and Griffin”, said Mr. Toba, the band director. “Despite the fact we are under the pandemic, these highly motivated students did much more than they were expected. I am very, very proud of the boys.”
Because of the COVID, there will be no actual Command Performance, but Xavier and Griffin will receive certificates and pins.
Well done to both of you Xavier and Griffin! And thank you to Mr Toba for your dedication to our students.

We will also be hosting a live Zoom Webinar of the event, so the rest of the Steller community, friends, and family can join and watch.

Keep in mind you can donate books, cd’s and dvd’s at Title Wave and donate the credit to Covenant House at any time! If you do, it would be great to let SPG know so we can keep track of the generosity of the Steller Community.
Hello everyone, together as a school Steller Secondary collected over 560LBS of food! Which is amazing that the Steller community could come together to collect so much food for the Food Bank of Alaska. Brian’s first hour won the competition for most points.

As we approach the last day of school don’t forget to return your books and supplies to school. The bin will be placed outside for your convenience – no need to call the office.
There are also some items in the school that were left from last year. If you think you might have anything still at school collect them asap – everything left will be donated.

Are you looking for other day camp options for your child(ren) this summer? The Anchorage-based nonprofit Alaska Seeds of Change is looking to hold an interactive summer gardening program to teach youth about how to start, grow, and maintain fresh and local Alaskan produce. A special focus this year will be developing leadership skills.
Workshops will be every Tuesday and Thursday 12:00 to 1:30 starting May 25. No registration is necessary, feel free to drop in.
