College and Career Fair at the Alaska Airlines Center – Oct. 15th

On Sunday, Oct. 15, a college and career fair, sponsored by UAA’s TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, will be hosted at the Alaska Airlines Center. The event will feature career exploration, college admissions, and financial aid workshops. Participants will be able to meet with representatives from colleges, universities, and vocational schools from across the country, as well as private and public employers.

Parent Group Meeting Rescheduled

Notice:  The Parent Group meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled to the following Tuesday on October 10th due to scheduling conflicts.

We are also announcing that going forward, Parent Group meetings will now occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.   We all hope you can make the new monthly meeting date.

Homecoming dance - Friday, Sept 29th 7-11pm

Steller’s Homecoming dance is this Friday, September 29 from 7-11pm.  Tickets are on sale during lunch and at the door.  Couples are $12 and individual tickets are $7.  If you are bringing a guest from another school they must be signed up on the list in the office by Thursday afternoon.

WE NEED CHAPERONES FOR HOMECOMING!  In order for the dance to happen we need parents to volunteer their time for some or all of the dance.  Please contact the office at 742-4950 or e-mail Simone at sanders_simone@asdk12.org if you are able to chaperone.

One final Homecoming Dance request – if you would like to provide any baked goods for the dance please bring them to the office on Friday.  Thanks!

All Pro Dads Day - Friday, Sept 29th

Steller Dads!  Our first All Pro Dads Day is this Friday, September 29th at 7:30 a.m.  We will be in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Please join us for breakfast and the program on Respect.  It should be a good time for all!  We will finish no later than 8:20 a.m.  Please RSVP at https://allprodadsday.com/chapters/10664 so we can make sure we have enough food for all.  See you then!

PSAT

The PSAT/NMSQT is Wednesday October 11 @ 8:30 AM in the MPR.

We are asking that students arrive at 8:15 AM if possible so they can be seated by 8:30 AM.

  • Marianne will have an information meeting about the college admissions process during lunch Thursday this week (9/28). Room TBA. Bring questions.

  • A College Night and/or Financial Aid Night is tentatively on the schedule for mid-October.

  • The FAFSA opens up October 1st.

  • Permission Slips for College Fair due October 2nd so we can verify the number of buses needed for the field trip.

  • Permission slips are available in the front office.

Help create Steller’s biggest event!

The Steller Auction is only six weeks away. Here’s what you need to know:

* Save the date on your calendar: Saturday, November 4th, 6:00-8:00 pm (auction starts at 6:30).
* This is our most important fundraiser to keep Steller special, with travel and much else.
* It is loads of fun, it is part of our community, and it happens because everyone pitches in.
* Judith Davis is organizing (THANKS JUDITH!!!) and she needs student and parent volunteers now to help with lots of little tasks. Contact Judith now at jlevans99516@gmail.com.
* Start thinking about what you can contribute for the auction.  For example; a service, an in-kind donation, or something from a local merchant.
