Our intensive trips have run into a roadblock and we need your help to get approval from the school board. If you’re willing to help, it would be incredibly impactful for the school board to hear directly from parents. Please read about the issue with travel intensives below. Sending a brief letter or email sharing why international travel matters to your family and why you’d like to see an international Intensive option approved for May 2027 could make a real difference.

Jennifer Crowe and Clare Foster have been working on planning the travel intensive trip for May 2027. Unfortunately, the planning has been at a standstill because our proposed travel dates overlap with the Day of Arafah (an Islamic holiday), which begins at sundown on May 15 and continues through May 16. At this point, the district is not approving any district-sponsored activities during that time. The challenge is that those dates fall right in the middle weekend of our spring Intensives. That leaves us with very limited options, so we don’t interfere with finals or graduation.

International travel offers lessons that extend far beyond the classroom. Many students later reflect that these experiences had a profound and lasting influence on their personal growth and future aspirations. My hope is that we can preserve this opportunity. 

Below are the proposal and itinerary for our Thailand trip, which is the option being developed. Greece is also being explored as an alternative, and both destinations received a lot of enthusiasm from students.
